Longford scored a memorable five point win over Tipperary to move into promotion hopefuls with a 3-12 to 3-7 win at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park.
Liam Connerton found the Tipperary net after just three minutes to set a tone for a game which would see nine goals in an end to end contest.
Darren Gallagher and Donal McElligott would add points to Longford’s score before Connor Sweeny got Tipperary’s first score on 13 minutes.
Sweeney found the Longford net in the 19th minute with Darren Gallagher settling the hosts almost immediately with a fine point.
Rian Brady’s point and then a Dessie Reynolds goal saw Longford lead 2-4 to 1-6 at half-time.
Two Brady’s frees and a free from keeper Paddy Collum plus a point from play by Gary Rogers and Oran Kenny’s goal saw Longford lead 3-8 to 2-6 with 15 minutes remaining.
Tipp came back into the game with a Connor Sweeney penalty and a Liam Boland goal made it 3-10 to 3-6.
However a late Darren Gallagher free and Oran Kenny sealed Longford’s 3-12 to 3-7 win as they now sit third in division three level on points with Down and three behind leaders Cork.
