Longford secured their Allianz division three status for next season with a 2-15 to 14 points win over relegated Sligo.
Sligo got the better of the first-half leading at the break 11 points to eight.
Longford took control of the second half in Glennon Brothers Pearse Park to come away with a seven points win.
Sligo went down to 14 men when Pat Hughes got a second yellow card in the 38th minute.
Inspirational midfielder Darren Gallagher started Longford’s ascent to victory with a goal less than a minute later. The Granard man finished top scorer with four points.
In the 58th minute Longford were reduced a man when Michael Quinn picked up a black card after earlier getting a yellow.
Abbeylara’s Nigel Rabbit made sure of the win in the 63rd minute with Longford’s second goal.
It’s Longford’s third win of the campaign adding to their draw with Offaly and guaranteeing themselves divison three football next year.
Longford take on Westmeath next Sunday in the final group game of the league.
