This weekend the lowered tiered hurling competitions get underway.
This season, Roscommon compete in the Christy Ring Cup, Longford in the Nicky Rackard cup and Leitrim take part in the Lory Meagher cup.
Longford claimed the Allianz Hurling League Division 3B title back in March after a gruelling extra-time battle with Sligo at the Connacht GAA Centre in Bekan. Longford won out by 2-15 to 3-10.
Longford welcome Warwickshire to Glennon Brothers Pearse Park at one o’clock in their opening Nicky Rackard Cup game on Sunday.
Longford hurling manager Derek Frehill previewed the upcoming campaign with Kevin McDermott.
Frehill discusses the difficulties with the break between the league and championship and the balancing act for players with football commitments.
