Longford Town collected their second away point of the season after a hard fought 1-1 draw with Cabinteely in Stradbrook writes Kieran Burke.
Town took just 13 minutes to take the lead, Karl Chambers corner kick was flicked on by Connor Kenna before Sam Verdon slotted home from close range.
The hosts struggled to retain possession in the opening period, however, despite dominance the away side struggled to trouble Stephen McGuiness’s goal.
Set pieces were crucial on the night and it was Rob Manley, brother of Longford’s Joe, who got Cabo back into the game with a scrappy finish from a Cabinteely corner.
Fresh pressure from the visitors was to follow, on a ground where Longford lost last season and only for goalkeeper, Lee Steacy, it could’ve been a similar fate for the visitors.
