There is another busy weekend in store for the local teams in the Shannonside region. Tomorrow night in the SSE Airtricity League, Longford Town will travel to the RSC to play Waterford the game will kick off at 7.45. The Town will be looking to bounce back after suffering a defeat last weekend against UCD.
Elsewhere in the First Division Athlone will play Cabinteely at Stradbrook on Saturday at 7 p.m.
In The Premier Division Sligo Rovers are away to St Pat’s tomorrow evening in Richmond Park. The game has a 7.45 kick off.
There will be a managerial announcement made later today in the League of Ireland when Limerick FC are expected to confirm Neil McDonal as their new manager. The former Newcastle and Everton player has spent most of his coaching career as an assistant and worked with the former England and Limerick manager Sam Allardyce at Bolton, Blackburn and West Ham United.
McDonald has manged Carlisle United and Blackpool so far and will be expected to perform well in Limerick.
The EA Sports Cup Semi-final draw has also taken place. The SSE Airtricity League Leaders Cork City will travel to Shamrock Rovers. The Dublin side enjoyed a narrow win over Longford Town in the quarter-finals.
The draw was conducted by St. Patrick’s Athletic midfielder Conan Byrne and FAI Director of Competitions Fran Gavin at FAI HQ in Abbotstown.
Galway United were handed a home draw against current SSE Airtricity League Champions Dundalk while the Premier Division leaders, Cork City will travel to Tallaght Stadium for that meeting with the Dublin based side.
Both ties will be played on Monday, August 7th with kick-off times will be confirmed in the coming days.
