The Connacht Gold Leitrim Senior Football Championship has rolled on to the quarter finals stages of the competition.Across the County tomorrow there are four matches taking place in three different venues.The Stand out tie is perhaps the repeat of the 2016 final where Glencar Manorhamilton will face Aughawillan. Aughawillan won that tie and with a mixture of a number factors they faced a difficult defence of their title in the group stages of the 2018 championship. The quarter final will take place tomorrow at 6.30pm in Pairc Sean.
Ahead of the crunch encounter Shannonside FM’s John Lynch spoke to the manager of the Aughawillan side, Tommy McCormack admitted that all the teams in Leitrim have raised their matches when they face the County champions.
The manager of the Glencar Manorhamilton side is Aidan Rooney. He’s led his side to the County final in 2016 where they were beaten by Aughawillan. Glencar manor’s passage to the quarter final encountered a lot more chopper waters than man would have expected and their manger Aidan Rooney was always a tough quarter final, however even he was surprised that they are facing the County champions in the last eight of the competition.
The magnificent support that has followed Mohill GAA in recent years are Cloone bound for tomorrow evenings Leitrim Senior Football quarter final with Drumreilly at 6.30pm . Drumreilly have surprised many by reaching the quarter finals, while Mohill as expected advanced from section A after suffering the one defeat at the hands of Ballinamore Sean o Heslins.The manager of the Mohill team is Pauric Davis and he’s been speaking with Shannonside FM’s John Lynch and he’s in agreement that Drumreilly are a potential banana skin
The other two matches see Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins take on Dromahair in Pairc Sean and Melvin Gaels face Saint Mary’s Kiltoghert in Drunkeerin. Both matches have a 5pm start.
