O’Donnell Claims National 60m Hurdles Title

Carrick-On-Shannon’s Ger O’Donnell landed the national senior indoor 60 metre hurdle title in the national indoor Arena in Abbotstown with a classy victory.

O’Donnell posted 7.95 seconds to take victory, point 40 of a second faster than second placed Shane Aston from Trim athletic club.

Elsewhere, Longford’s Cian McPhillips just missed out on a first national senior title finishing fourth in the 1500 metre final posting 3:49.63 just four seconds behind silver medallist Eoin Pierce. Meath man Andrew Coscoran won the title in 3:49.36.

While And Longford’s Nelvin Appiah lost out on high jump bronze to Geoffrey Joy O`Regan on count back. Both athlete’s jumped a best of 1.95 metres but O’Regan took bronze having less fouls.

David Cussen of Old Abbey took gold with a best height of 2.08 metres.
