Martin Cunnife Resigns As Leitrim Hurling Manager

Martin Cunniffe has resigned as manager of the Leitrim senior hurlers team after leading them to the Lory Meagher Cup earlier this year.

Cunniffe has been in charge of the side since 2011 and led the Leitrim side Lory Meagher cup beating Lancashire after extra-time by 2-23 to 2-22 in a thrilling match in Croke Park.

Cunniffe told Shannonside Sport that he was happy to stand aside but felt aggrieved by events at a county board meeting where an issue of supposed unrest in the camp among players was raised.

Leitrim county board chairman Terence Boyle praised the efforts of Martin Cunniffe and bringing an All-Ireland hurling title.
