Home advantage will count for little according to former Leitrim goalkeeper Martin McHugh.
Roscommon take on Leitrim in Dr Hyde Park in the 2019 Connacht Senior Football Championship on Sunday afternoon at half past three.
So far this season- Leitrim gained promotion from Division four this season while Roscommon suffered a relegation from Division one.
Former Leitrim goalkeeper Martin McHugh has previewed the Shannonside derby with Kevin McDermott.
The Connacht championship winner in 1994 doesn’t think home advantage will play much part in the outcome.
“When you start training for the championship it doesn’t matter whether the match is in Croke Park, Pairc Sean or the Hyde.
It doesn’t matter if the pitch is on the moon. You are gearing yourself for the championship and putting yourself in your best performance and putting your best foot forward.
We were the same in 94 we had Roscommon in Hyde Park, we had Galway in Tuam and Mayo in Hyde Park. Those three games were away from Carrick on Shannon- It doesn’t really matter where the game is.
Dr Hyde Park is a great venue and it will be a great spectacle for both sides.”
