Leitrim See Off Cavan in Lory Meagher Cup

Leitrim gave themselves every chance of making the Lory Meagher Cup final after they secured a three point win over Cavan.

First-half goals from Clement Cunniffe and Colm Moreton were the difference in what was a very even opening half in Avantcard Pairc Sean MacDiarmada.

Jack Barry’s 30th minute goal helped Cavan to go in level at the break (2-7 to 1-10), Kevin Conneely 57th minute red card edged it toward Leitrim.

Diarmaid Carney late free made it a two point game, but Leitrim struck back with Ben Murray from play to secure a 2-16 to 1-16 victory.

In the other game Fermanagh saw off Lancashire 2-13 to 0-15 at Brewster Park, which see’s Lancashire stand on four points.

Leitrim host Fermanagh in Avantcard Piarc Sean MacDiarmada on June eighth, a victory over Fermanagh and if Lancashire fail to beat Cavan would see Leitrim progress to the Lory Meagher Cup final.
