Glencar/Manorhamilton and Mohill are 2017 Leitrim senior football county final bound

Glencar/Manorhamilton and Mohill will contest the 2017 Connacht Gold Leitrim Senior football championship semi final after they came out on the winning side of their semi finals in a double header in Pairc Sean MacDhiarmada this afternoon.

Glencar/Manorhamilton will be in their third final in a row after getting beyond the challenge of last years intermediate champions Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins with a 3-08 to 0-10 victory. Niall Brady,Aaron Hickey and Paddy Maguire getting the goals as Aidan Rooneys side claimed a 7 point victory. Ballinamore Sean OHeslins manager Paul Prior spoke with our reporter John Lynch after the game.

That was followed by 2015 champions Mohill having one point to spare over Saint Marys Kiltoghert in the second of the semi finals with a 1-11 to 1-10 win.


 Mohill led by 1-07 to 0-05 at half time the goal coming courtesy of Keith Beirne. Saint Marys Alan Doherty goaled in the second half to level matters but Mohill got the next two points and Saint Marys got the last point but couldnt rescue an equaliser in the last couple of minutes of injury time. Pauric Davis side will now face Glencar/Manorhamilton in what will be an eagerly anticipated final.
