All roads will lead to Cloone in Leitrim this weekend for the replay of the Leitrim Ladies Senior Championship Final. The eagerly anticipated replay will take place next Saturday with a 5 pm throw-in for the meeting of Dromahair and St. Joseph’s.
The sides played out a thriller last week in Carrick-on-Shannon, with the full time score reading Dromahair 2-5 to St Joseph’s 1-8. The Cloone replay will be the first of a busy weekend for Leitrim Ladies football with the Division 2 and 3 League Finals fixed for Sunday morning.
Fenagh and Keeldra Gaels meet at 11 am in the Division 3 decider while Glencar/Manorhamilton and the 2017 Intermediate Champions Oughteragh Gaels going into battle at 12.30.
The Men’s Senior and Intermediate Quarter-Final replays have been fixed for Paric Sean on Saturday evening. These really are two cracking replays and should draw a bumper crowd to the County Grounds.
The senior quarter-final game between Aughawillan and Glencar Manorhamilton will be keenly contested encounter. There is history and genuine respect between these sides. It looked for long spells last week that the defending County champions would advance to the semi-finals and set up a dream local derby with Ballinamore Sean O’ Heslins, however Glencar Manorhamilton had other ideas and staged a serious comeback to force a replay.
Whoever learns the most from the drawn match will advance here, but again expect the margin of victory to be small and there could even be extra time required to eventually decide the result.
The curtain raiser to the aforementioned senior quarter-final is the Intermediate quarter-final replay between Fenagh St. Caillin’s and Leitrim Gaels. Fenagh were the favourites before last weekend’s encounter and the Gaels now have to repeat the heroics of last Sunday and hope that they finish the job this time round. Substandard shooting was all that stood between one of the County’s youngest clubs advancing to the Intermediate semi-finals.
There will be live updates on the senior Quarter-final replay on Saturday Sport and Sunday Sport will also carry reaction and analysis on the big match.
