Leitrim relegated following Tipperary defeat

Leitrim were relegated to division four of the Allianz Football League following a 2-11 to 15 points defeat against Tipperary at Avantcard Pairc Sean MacDiarmada.

A goal in each half helped the Premier County to a narrow victory having led by 1-5 to seven points at the interval.

The sides were level after 11 minutes of play before a goal by Kevin O’Halloran broke the deadlock giving the visitors a three-point cushion.

12 minutes later Tipperary extended the gap to five points before the hosts hit four unanswered points leaving one between them at half-time.

Three of those came from Keith Beirne with Conor Dolan also on target.

The sides were level eight minutes into the second half before points from Conor Dolan and Cillian McGloin gave Leitrim a two-point lead.

The Premier County responded and three minutes later substitute Liam Boland levelled the game once more.

The Premier County then raced into a four-point lead with five minutes left when Liam Casey scored their second goal of the game.

Conor Dolan and Keith Beirne landed a score each thereafter as Tipperary finished with a pair of points to spare.
