FORMER LEITRIM PLAYER BELIEVES IT WAS AN HONOURABLE DECISION FOR HIS COUNTY NOT FIELD AT THE WEEKEND

Relegation and promotion in Division 3 of the Allianz National Football league, will come down to the final round of games this weekend, with the only certainty been that Cork are making a return back to Division 2.

Down currently sit 2nd in the table after they were handed a walk over by Leitrim on Saturday past with Terry Hylands side been unable to field a team due to the unavailability of a number of players.

The decision made by Leitrim in light of the current Covid 19 crisis has been lauded by many, however Tipperary Manager David Brown did note that the “integrity of the league is damaged” due to the concession of the game.

The premier county overcame Offaly at the weekend and are now due to travel to Carrick On Shannon on Sunday to face Letirim.

Former Leitrim Derek Kelleher remarked that it was an honourable decision for  the management and panel not to take to the field
