Ireland centre Bundee Aki has been banned for three matches, meaning he will not play again at this Rugby World Cup.
The centre received a straight red card for a high tackle during the win over Samoa at the weekend. The IRFU had launched an appeal but Aki lost his disciplinary hearing in Japan today.
The suspension means Aki will now miss any of the further games Ireland play in this years World Cup including Saturday’s Quarter-final game with New Zealand.
Elsewhere, head coach Joe Schmidt has been given a clean bill of health, ahead of the showdown with the All Blacks, which takes place at 11:15am (Irish Time) in Tokyo on Saturday.
