The talking is over for Shamrock Rovers II boss Aidan Price who’s ready for his young team to take the pitch and rattle the first division.
Longford Town host the Rovers II team this Saturday evening in the newly named Bishopsgate stadium, playing under protest with the other first division clubs.
For Price though, that’s far from his mind as he wants his young team to rattle Town and push their way into the Shamrock Rovers first team.
“It’s not for me to speak on” Price told Shannonside Sport around the controversy surrounding the inclusion of the Rovers II team.
“We’re just here to play football and give players an opportunity that’s what we’re here to do” declared Price.
“Plenty of tests have come along even before a ball has been kicked now it’s up to the lads to prove what they can do” added Price.
Town boss dismissed suggestions that Rovers II were an unknown quantity earlier this week, with Price echoing his words but looking for big things from his young team.
“We’ve some really exciting young players like Sinclair Armstrong and Adam Wells” two players Price signaled out to make an immediate impact.
“These boys who are involved with the Irish underage, there will be a few and we hope to bring more into the team throughout the season.”
While the Rovers II team take the field, Price is under no doubt that the name Shamrock Rovers alone with see opposition players raise their game.
“I’m sure Daire Doyle has his players well round-up looking to make a statement against Shamrock Rovers and I’m sure that’s the same for every team and every supporter when they see us coming.”
