Former World boxing champion Nigel Benn has revealed on Instagram that one of his brother’s has died of Covid-19.
Benn posted the news on his instagram accounting writing, “My brother Mark passed Away 2day (Covid 19), as we all were growing up Mark was the Joker of the Benn house hold, May he Rest In Peace love u Mark”
Nigel Benn had been due to make a comeback to the ring last year only for an injury to end those plans, having had a record of 42 wins, five losses, and one draw.
‘The Dark Destroyer’ Benn was a World champion in two wieght classes holding the WBO middleweight in 1990 and the WBC super-middleweight title from 1992 to 1996.
Benn retired from the ring in 1996 after twice failing to take the WBO super-middleweight title from Dubliner Steve Collins.
Former Monaghan World Champion and boxing legend Barry McGuigan paid his own tribute on twitter.
