Ciaran Kilduff’s 38th minute strike moved Shelbourne five points clear at the top of the SSE Airtricity League first division after a 1-0 win away to Limerick.
Kilduff nicked the ball from Limerick goalkeeper Jack Brady and found an empty net. Limerick’s Darren Murphy skied a 20th minute penalty.
Meanwhile, Drogheda United leap frogged Longford Town into second place after Luke McNally’s 90th minute winner moved Drogheda onto 35 points, two clear of Longford Town.
McNally rising highest in the box to plant Sean Brennan’s cross past Gabriel Sava and into the net.
Elsewhere, Athlone Town grabbed a point away to Galway United after a contentious 65th minute penalty was converted by Dean Williams.
Wilson Waweru 25-yarder on the half-hour gave Galway the lead before Williams secured Athlone’s first away draw of the season from the spot.
While Luke Clucas secured Cainteely’s first win since May 11th as they moved into fourth place.
Clucas edge of the box free-kick three minutes after the break the difference as Wexford’s Sean Callan saw red 20 minutes from time on Keith Dalton.
New Japanese signing Yuta Sasaki sealed a 2-0 win in the 90th minute from 12-yards having been fed by Dalton.
Longford Town host Cobh Ramblers on Saturday night, a win for Town would close the gap on Shelbourne to two points.
