Jonathan Walters Retires from International Team

Jonathan Walters has announced his retirement from football.

The 54-times capped Republic of Ireland international has been forced to call time on his career due to an Achilles injury.

Walters scored 14 times for his country with his goals in a playoff against Bosnia sending Ireland to Euro 2016.

The 35-year old, who joined Ipswich this season on loan, says he enjoyed an ‘epic’ career – his last Ireland cap came in a 4-1 defeat to Wales last year.
