Cross Country Success For Ireland

Athletics Ireland’s had its most successful European Cross-Country Championships.
Four medals were won in Lisbon.

The senior women’s side took a silver medal for their combined efforts.

Aoibhe Richardson finished in 17th place and Ciara Mageean finished 20th.

Fionnula McCormack finished just outside the individual medals in fourth-place

McCormack said she was happy with team’s performance but not her own;

Meanwhile the Irish under-age team also claimed silver as well as winning two individual bronze medals.

Stephanie Cotter claimed the bronze medal in the under-23 race while Efrem Gidey, on his international debut for Ireland, picked up a bronze medal in the men’s Under-20 race.
