A Gaelic Players Association survey is asking inter-county stars if they want the Allianz National Hurling and Football Leagues and Championships to go ahead as planned.

The representative body is posing the question directly to the players in a survey, with the results expected tomorrow.

Simon Coveney has said he has worries for the GAA ahead of the resumption of inter-county action this weekend.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Defence was speaking ahead of a full round of National Football League fixtures set to take place across the country.

The inter-county season has come under renewed pressure due to the government’s new COVID-19 restrictions.

Colm Keys is a GAA sports journalist with the Irish Independent, and speaking on the J.F show this morning he noted that "concern is growing" about the hosting of league and championship fixtures especially as the movement of "teams across the country, is out of step with the restrictions that are been posed on people"

All three teams from the Shannonside region are set to travel to the North this weekend with Longford taking on Derry, Leitrim set to face Down and Roscommon away to Armagh
