Two Shannonside Hospitals are among the most overcrowded in the country today.
According to information from the INMO, almost ninety people are waiting on trolleys and chairs at Sligo University Hospital and University Hospital Galway today, in the wake of what has been described as the “worst week ever” for overcrowding.
INMO figures show there are forty two people waiting for a bed at Sligo University Hospital, with forty three people waiting at University Hospital Galway.
Mullingar Hospital and Roscommon Hospital both released statements yesterday urging the public to limit visitations due to a flu outbreak and overcrowding.
Today, Mullingar Hospital still has eighteen people waiting on trolleys.
Four people are waiting at Portiuncula, with six at Tullamore Regional Hospital and twenty six in Cavan.
The worst affected emergency department nationwide is University Hospital Limerick, with fifty one people waiting for a bed.
Overall, there are 579 people awaiting beds today, up from 521 yesterday.
