Special traffic cameras have been installed on the N60 at Oran in order to examine if there needs to be additional safety measures put in place.
A traffic consultant is to examine footage from the cameras which were installed last week for a 14 day period, to examine safety issues around vehicles overtaking as well as their speed approaching major junctions on the newly developed road.
Local residents have expressed worries that a serious incident could take place unless additional traffic calming measures are implemented. Councillor Marty McDermott, who appealed to the TII to examine safety issues along the busy route, says there is a lot of concern about road safety since its upgrade:
