Three-year-old boy critical after Cork hit-and-run

A 3-year-old boy is in a critical condition this morning following a hit and run in Cork.

The young child was struck by the car at Castle Meadows off Skehard Road shortly before 4pm yesterday.

It’s believed the boy ran onto the road chasing a football when the collision occurred.

A blue saloon – which Gardai believe was involved in the incident – was later found around 1 kilometre from the scene.

The injured boy is being treated at Temple Street Children’s University Hospital in Dublin.
