Cian Quinn of Ashdale Clonbrusk, Athlone, and Declan Stephens of Mountain View Terrace, Newry were charged in connection with the robbery of 77-year-old Seamus Hogan in Athlone last year.

Mr. Hogan was robbed of €100 euro and had a gold watch stolen in the incident and also had his cheek cut by a knife held by one of the men in the attack.

Both men pleaded guilty to charges including assault and robbery last month and they will be sentenced at a sitting of Longford Circuit court this morning.
