Speeding drivers could face fines linked to their salaries under new plans

Drivers caught speeding could face fines based on their salary under new proposals.

It means that high earners would have to pay more if they break the speed limit.

The plan is being considered by the Road Safety Authority, with details to be sent to the Transport Minister Shane Ross.

The AA’s Conor Faughnan says he has nothing against the proposals, but believes the penalty points system is enough.
