Rodent infestations causes closure of three food premises

A number of rodent infestations has caused the Food Safety Authority to close three premises.

The orders were issued in November to businesses in three counties.

Two premises were served full closure orders and one was served a partial closure order last month.

All three orders from the Food Safety Authority were in relation to breaches surrounding pest control.

The partial closure was issued to Get Fresh Catering in Navan, Co.Meath after inspectors discovered a heavy mouse infestation in the canteen, including mouse droppings on surfaces, equipment, food packaging and crockery.

The Iceland Store in Gorey Retail Park in Wexford was served a closure order due to evidence of non-compliance stating there was prolific evidence of rodent droppings on and below food shelves.

Pieces of gnawed crisps packaging were also observed amongst rodent droppings on the shop floor and droppings were also found inside multi packs of crisps.

While AD Cash and Carry in Inchicore in Dublin 8 was closed after mouse droppings were found throughout the premises.
