Murphy to bring Bill to prevent Roscommon boundary changes

Roscommon-Civic-HQ-building-just-finished-ANA Bill is set to be moved in the Dáil seeking to amend the Local Government Act and tackle the uncertainty over the Monksland boundary issue.

The Bill is being brought by Roscommon-Galway TD Eugene Murphy, who says controversial boundary changes could still go head in four years’ time, which would see Co Roscommon lose a large part of its population and rates base.

The Fianna Fáil TD says no one should be fooled that the recent Athlone boundary report is framed in such a way that it could yet lead to the annexation of the Monksland area in a few years’ time.
