Man hospitalized after being attacked by burglar in Tipperary

A man in his 30s is recovering in hospital after being beaten up by a burglar in Co Tipperary.

He was assaulted after chasing the suspects out of his home this morning.

At around 5:30 this morning, two men broke into a house at Westgate Court, Irishtown, Clonmel and stole a number of items.

This awoke the homeowner, a man in his 30s, who chased one of the suspects down the road.

He was then assaulted and later taken to South Tipperary General Hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

Gardai seached the local area and arrested a man in his 20s.

Another man in his 30s was arrested after he was caught trying to dump some of the stolen property into a nearby river.
