One person was injured during the incident on Main Street in Roscommon town shortly before midnight on Friday night

The road was closed for a month after masonry at a building fell onto the street.

The contractor has been asked to address the issue immediately.

It's been hoped that the building, which dates back over 100 years, could be stabilised instead of torn down.

The plan was abandoned for this year after a four week trial earlier this year

The footpath on the other side of the street will be accessible to pedestrians.

Traffic wont be allowed to drive through a significant section of main street in Carrick-on-Shannon from 6' o clock this Friday evening until 8 o'clock next Monday morning

Many local residents and businesses have supported the move as a measure to see increased footfall in the town.
