Water restrictions announced for Athlone from 10pm tonight

Water restrictions for large areas of Athlone and its surrounds have been announced for tonight.

Irish Water has confirmed that due to an issue at Annagh reservoir and low levels at the water treatment plant, restrictions will come into force from tonight.

The body claims the night-time restriction is being put in place to ensure customers have a water supply to their homes and businesses during daytime hours.

The water restriction will be in place from 10pm tonight Tuesday February 5th, until 6am tomorrow morning, Wednesday February 6th which will impact customers in Athlone Town, Baylin, Mount Temple, The Ories, Garrycastle, Dublin Road, Ardnaglug, Fardrum, Moydrum, Blyry, Killyon Hill, Bonavalley, Athlone and surrounds in Co. Westmeath.

A number of restrictions were announced last week after a pollution incident at the water treatment plant.
