Troy slams rejection of plans for Westmeath whiskey facility

A Longford-Westmeath TD has criticised the decision to refuse planning permission for a multimillion-euro whiskey-storage facility on the Longford-Westmeath border.

Westmeath County Council has turned down an application by Vault Storage to develop a 12 maturation warehouses and a whiskey-filing hall at Moyvore.

The local authority claims the proposed development would be at odds with the rural environment and would also contravene the Westmeath County Development Plan.

Fianna Fáil TD Robert Troy has hit out at the decision by Westmeath County Council, describing it as an ‘own goal’.
