Sinn Fein leader slams local hospital overcrowding

The Sinn Fein President claims the government is out of touch regarding hospital overcrowding in the Shannonside region and nationally,.

Earlier this week the midlands regional hospital in Mullingar warned the public not to attend it’s A+E due to overcrowding, while this week 50 people were recorded as waiting on trolleys or chairs at Sligo University hospital.

The Minister for Health has come under pressure to try and tackle the problem, which is reported as being above average for this time of year.

Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show this morning, Mary Lou McDonald, who raised the situation at Mullingar in the Dail this week, claimed the government are ignoring deep rooted problems in the health service.
