Shannonside hospital one of only three nationwide with no overcrowding

Portiuncula is one of only three hospitals nationwide where no patients are waiting on trolleys.

Nobody is waiting for a bed at the facility, along with the National Children’s Hospital and the Mid Western Hospital in Ennis.

However, fifty four people are on trolleys or chairs across other hospitals in the region.

According to the INMO, twenty eight people are at University College Hospital Galway, while twelve people are waiting in Sligo University Hospital.

Meanwhile seven people are waiting at both Cavan General and Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar.

The most overcrowded facility nationwide is Cork University Hospital with fifty seven people without a bed.

A total of four hundred and fifty six people are lying on trolleys or chairs across the country today.
