Retired AIT lecturer thinks we should prepare for leaving cert cancellation

A retired lecturer at Athlone IT believes we should prepare for leaving cert exams to be scrapped due to the Covid-19 crisis.

Paul Mulvey has proposed a different assessment system for prospective third level students whereby they’d be tested for their aptitude and attitude for specific college courses.

According to Mr Mulvey, the department shouldn’t guarantee the leaving cert will take place as he says nobody knows what will happen with the pandemic.

Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show, he says it’s an inherently unfair situation:

However, a Longford school principal thinks the department of education will do everything possible to ensure the exams will go ahead.
