Public are being given direct advice on how best to deal with litter associated with the use of drugs

The public are being given direct advice on how best to deal with litter associated with the use of drugs.

The Midland Regional Drug & Alcohol Task Force & HSE Community Alcohol & Drug Service has worked with the Gardai, Local Authorities and Merchants Quay Ireland to develop a leaflet on what to do and what not to do when the public comes across drug parphenelia.

Catherine Byrne, TD, Minister of State at the Department of Health was at the launch in Athlone this week and it will be distributed throughout the region.

Advice includes who to call when it’s present in public places, and Head of Primary Care at the HSE, Joe Ruane outlines what to do in the rare event of getting pierced with a needle.
