People across the Shannonside region are being invited to attend a special event tonight to discuss the future of policing in Ireland.
The first ever Commission on the Future of Policing open evening takes place in Athlone and will be attended by the chair of the Policing Commission Kathleen O’Toole.
Tonight’s event will be based around the public sharing their concerns and ideas to help create and develop a blueprint for policing in the future.
Tonight’s event gets underway in the Athlone Civic Offices, Church Street from 6pm to 8pm.
Members of the public are also invited to make submissions online at police reform.ie before the deadline of January 31st 2018.
Tonight’s event is the first in a series of events planned for across the country in the coming months, with a further ‘open evening’ event taking place in Carrick-on-Shannon in early January.
