OPW Minister says people ignoring advice on physical distancing will force the closure of public parks

Acting OPW Minister Kevin Boxer Moran says it will be people’s behaviour that will force any closure of OPW car parks and sites around the country.

The former Athlone based TD was speaking ahead of a meeting today with other agencies where the issue of social distancing will be discussed.

Stories and pictures of large crowds of people visiting Glendalough and other scenic sites has prompted calls for the Office of Public Works to take more action in closing some its car parks and sites around the county.

The acting Minister says any decisions on closing public areas will be to force the message home that people need to stay a safe physical distance from each other.
