Mullingar solar farm gets planning approval

Planning permission has been granted for a large solar farm to be developed in Mullingar.

In February, Grian PV asked Westmeath County Council for the go-ahead to build the renewable-energy facility, with an export capacity of 12.4-megawatts.

It’ll comprise photovoltaic panels on ground-mounted frames, with seven invertor cabins, a control building and a customer cabin.

The council has given the development the go-ahead, subject to 18 conditions, including payment of development contributions of €125,000.
