Mother of three claims landlords refusing HAP is the reason she now lives in caravan in Glasson

A mother of three is claiming she’s been forced to live in a campervan in a forest in Glasson as she struggles to find accommodation.

Jennifer Cawley, her partner Raymond, and their children aged from 2 to 7 years have been staying in the mobile home since losing their home in January.

The 28-year-old says they’ve no running water, no electricity and no bathroom and she has to wash her kids in water she gets from a neighbours outside tap after she boils it.

Jennifer claims that the health of her family is being affected by living in the campervan especially that of her youngest son whose asthma has worsened.

She has seen more than twenty properties in a number of locations including Monksland and Athlone but says that landlords are reluctant to take the social housing support known as HAP.
