Westmeath mother and child face homelessness

A Westmeath single mother says she and her three-year-old child face homelessness.

Danielle Donlon has been living in Mullingar for the past two and a half years, under the Rental Accommodation Scheme.

But her landlord has issued her with a termination notice because he intends to renovate the house and sell it.

Danielle says she was ordered to leave the house by last Thursday, but refused because she has nowhere to go.

Westmeath County Council has offered her another rental property, but she says it’s not suitable because of her condition – she suffers from panic attacks and anxiety.

Danielle, who was born in Longford town, says she and her daughter, Caoimhe, have nowhere to go.

A detailed interview with Danielle can he heard here – she begins by speaking about how she and her daughter have found life in their Mullingar house in recent years.
