Man arrested in Mullingar for fraudulently claiming Covid-19 payments

A man’s been arrested for fraudulently claiming Covid 19 unemployment payments.

He’d allegedly been receiving six separate payments of 350 euro a week into a bank account using fake names.

A house in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath was searched today following intelligence from the Department of Social Protection.

The man in his late teens was arrested and is being questioned at Mullingar Garda Station.

A sum of cash and counterfeit money were also seized during the search.
