Mairéad McGuiness says long campaign opposing Mercosur deal lies ahead

The new Vice President of the European parliament claims there will be long campaign of opposition to the Mercosur deal among several politicians in Europe.

Concern has be3n raised this week that Irish farmers will be negatively affected by the deal which could see tonnes of south American beef imported into Europe.

The Minister for agriculture Michael Creed told the dial the government would be strongly opposed to it, while Mairead McGuinness says has many concerns about the deal

She told the Joe Finnegan show that there will be a long process to go before the deal is ratified in Europe
