GSOC investigation underway after death of 13 year old boy in Westmeath crash

A 13-year-old boy has been killed in a crash in county Westmeath.

It happened in the Lisclougher Great area of Delvin at around 2:15 this morning.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been taken to the mortuary at the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar.

Another teenager has also been taken to hospital and is in a critical condition, while three others received non life threatening injuries.

The scene is currently preserved and Gardai are appealing for witnesses.

The incident has been referred to GSOC.
