Full Capacity Protocol implemented at Mullingar hospital

The Full Capacity Protocol has been implemented at Mullingar hospital today where the Emergency Department and the hospital generally is very busy.

A statement from the Ireland East Hospital Group which manages Mullingar says a lot of older patients were admitted over the weekend with respiratory and other complex illnesses.

Consultants at the hospital have been doing extra ward rounds today in an effort to discharges as many patients as possible who are able to return home, or into care facilities.


Members of the pubic are being asked not to attend the Emergency Department unless they need urgent care.
