Event promoting health among rural population and farmers next week in Athlone

The biggest challenges facing modern farmers are mostly out of their control which adds to their stress levels and results in mental health challenges.

That’s according to the organiser of a farm family event focusing on mental health and well-being taking place next week in Athlone.

Frank Hynes worked with Teagasc for almost thirty years and is encouraging anyone with a rural or farming background to attend the event at the Hodson Bay hotel next Monday night after he developed a programme to promote better mental health called ‘Fresh pastures’.

Tickets for the event can be purchased on the night or in advance and Frank told Shannonside FM that farming has changed hugely from a family occupation to one that is almost entirely solitary for large parts of the day and night
