Longford-Westmeath deputy Peter Burke is the new chairman of the Fine Gael committee on finance.
An accountant by profession, Deputy Burke is already a member of the Dáil’s Public Accounts Committee.
As part of his new responsibilities, Deputy Burke will now chair Fine Gael meetings and brief the parliamentary party on all issues involving finance and public spending.
His main task will be informing all party members about updates to policy or upcoming changes in legislation.
Speaking to Shannonside FM, Deputy Burke says he sees Ireland’s corporation tax and its maintenance as a major challenge in the year ahead.
