Busy Mullingar Hospital urges public to stay away due to flu outbreak

The public has once again been asked to stay away from Mullingar Hospital due to a high number of patients presenting with flu.

The hospital stated they are “extremely busy” and people with less serious illnesses and conditions have been warned they may need to wait longer for treatment than the sickest and most injured patients.

This morning’s INMO list shows there’s a total of five hundred and thirty people on trolleys today, with twenty four people at Mullingar Hospital and forty five people in University Hospital Galway.

Those with limb injuries have been encouraged to attend an Injury Unit, while others with minor illnesses can be treated by a GP.

The HSE group has apologised for any distress or inconvenience, and that they are working to identify patients ready for discharge.
