People annoyed over parking issues in Westmeath are being advised that they may be recorded.
Westmeath County Council is among the first local authorities in Ireland to introduce personal CCTV cameras for traffic wardens.
The scheme is already in place in Mullingar and will be introduced in Athlone next month.
The devices will not be operating on a continuous basis, and will only be turned on when the need arises.
District manager Pat Keating explains the devices are about ensuring the wardens personal safety while doing their job.
