Athlone artist appeals for return of stolen painting

An Athlone-based artist is appealing for help in locating one of her paintings that was stolen from an exhibition in a charity shop.

Anna Boles says the painting, valued at €300, which is an original acrylic, was an easy target as it’s only the size of an A4 piece of paper.

It was hanging in the upstairs area of Vincent’s charity shop on Church Street in Athlone when it was robbed yesterday morning.

A man had been seen lingering in the shop at the time.

Anna, who is officially launching her exhibition tomorrow at 3pm, is asking people to be on the alert if they’re offered the painting, which is a depiction of waves, but she says if it’s returned, she’ll take no further action.
